For the 4th year now there was a joint Scottish winter meet of the AC and the Alpine Club of Marseille Provence.

There were eight participants and, thanks to Alasdair Buchanan, Paul, Dave, Georgina and Malcolm, it was a brilliant week. We had the full Scottish experience; snow and avalanche risk, strong winds bringing freezing rain, but also haggis, porridge and good beer. Despite the wind, the cold and the snow we got out virtually every day; to Ben Nevis, Buachaille Etive Mor and into the Cairngorms. Friendship and kindness between fellow climbers, set against the wildness of the Scottish landscape and the seriousness of the climbing, left us with fond memories of the trip. We are looking forward to meeting again next year, to enjoy good routes either in the sunny Calanques or the cold of the Ecrins. Remi Songeon AC member
