The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

Becoming a MemberLectures
Here is a list of lectures at the Alpine Club. Select additional pages using the numbers at the bottom.
The lectures provide a good opportunity for AC members to meet one another and exchange news, views and information. New members and prospective members are particularly welcome. Prospective members are asked to contact the AC office before attending. Lectures generally start at 7:30pm.
For the lectures in London, non-members are asked to register their attendance in advance either by filling in the relevant form on the lecture page or by contacting the office at admin@alpineclub.org (Please note that a donation is requested on entry).
Anyone who has had an interesting trip and would be prepared to lecture is invited to contact the AC Office or the lecture organisers.

Novelist Alison Jean Lester, daughter of the late James T. Lester, an American psychologist who accompanied the first American expedition to Mount Everest in 1963, will offer a talk and slideshow about Return to the Scene of the Climb, James T. Lester's previously unpublished writing and photography from three adventures: the AMEE expedition, which he joined to study the group dynamics of the expedition members; an eight-week road trip around the U.S. as tour guide to five of the principal Sherpa climbers from that expedition; and a return to Nepal in 1998 to seek out those same Sherpa climbers and others, to document, in their own words, how their lives had changed.
The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 13 May 2025.

There is no official charge for entry, but we do ask non-members to make a small contribution towards the continued running of the lectures if they are able.
