The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Our very popular Peak Lecture Series returns for autumn 2023.
In the first lecture of this new run Charlene Gibson recounts her 2016 ascent of Cho Oyu (8188m), a climb which made her the oldest British woman to have summitted the mountain.
The talk will be held in The Padley Room of The Sir William Hotel, Grindleford, S32 2HS. If you wish to eat prior to the talk, please place an order with the venue at least 48 hours in advance so that they can cater for expected numbers. The Sir William can be contacted on 01433 631 167.
All are welcome to attend and the talk is free for AC members on production of your AC membership card and students on production of a valid NUS card. Non-members are asked to make a donation of £3 towards the Montane Alpine Club Climbing Fund.
