The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Lectures

Here is a list of lectures at the Alpine Club. Select additional pages using the numbers at the bottom.

The lectures provide a good opportunity for AC members to meet one another and exchange news, views and information. New members and prospective members are particularly welcome. Prospective members are asked to contact the AC office before attending. Lectures generally start at 7:30pm.

For the lectures in London, non-members are asked to register their attendance in advance either by filling in the relevant form on the lecture page or by contacting the office at admin@alpineclub.org (Please note that a donation is requested on entry).

Dogs (except for guide dogs) are not permitted at lectures. Since these events are open to both members and the general public, we need to be mindful of potential allergies or phobias that attendees may have.

Anyone who has had an interesting trip and would be prepared to lecture is invited to contact the AC Office or the lecture organisers.

Each event includes a clickable map with the address of the venue.

Alpine Club Stanage Weekend Meet 2025
From Friday 11 April 2025
To Sunday 13 April 2025
Contact Tom Davis-Merry
Friday 11 April 2025

Now in its third year, this highly enjoyable and very popular meet will return to the classic Peak District escarpments of Stanage. Accommodation is booked for 16 people, including 5 cars and 4 camper vans, at the North Lees Campsite in Hathersage, with the option to increase if required.

Participants are encouraged to join for the whole weekend, with a meet dinner booked for the Saturday evening, but are also welcome to join us for a day too. Some participants will arrive on the Thursday evening to enjoy a full day on the Friday, but if you wish to do this, please inform the meet organiser (Tom Davis-Merry) and arrange your additional accommodation separately.

There is no limit on numbers, but those signing up after the initial 16 staying at the campsite will need to liaise with the meet organiser to check additional availability at the campsite or seek alternative accommodation. Please note the Saturday evening meal may be limited on numbers and priority will be given to those staying at the campsite for the full weekend.

Camping will be approximately £25 per person for the two nights.

This is always a popular meet and campsite spaces will go quickly!
