The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

In our penultimate Peak lecture of the season, we welcome Nigel Vardy to tell us his story of an ill-fated climb on Denali in 1999 and a return to the mountain in 2024, 25 years later. Accompanied by a film crew to document the journey, Nigel reconnected with the rangers, medical staff, and air crew who had saved his life and provided treatment. The journey included a flight over the peak, exactly 25 years after the rescue.
Venue: Outside, Main Road, Hathersage, S32 1BB
All are welcome to attend and the talk is free for AC members on production of your AC membership card and students on production of a valid NUS card. Tickets can be purchased here and AC members can book for free using the usual voucher code.
