The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Rick Allen: The man and the mountains
Tuesday 15 March 2022, 07:30pm
Tuesday 15 March 2022

Rick Allen, one of Britain’s greatest yet most modest Himalayan climbers, died attempting a new route on K2 in July 2021. Tonight we are joined by Simon Richardson who will review Rick’s mountaineering achievements, which can perhaps be ranked alongside those of Dougal Haston and Doug Scott. Simon, Jerry Gore, Sandy Allan, and Nick Kekus will then talk about some of the climbs they did together.

As usual we will finish with a Q&A, which will provide an opportunity for individuals to make a tribute.

If you would like to join this ClubCasrt please check your emails again on Monday 14 March, when a zoom invitation will be sent out on Alpinet.  The invitation will also be available on the Alpine Club Facebook Member Area.

For the benefit of non-members we will be live-streaming ClubCast 27 on YouTube athttps://youtu.be/ODzB0bZkjY4 which you are welcome to pass on to non-members.
