The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Call for volunteers: 'AC picks up shovels'

We would like to draw AC members attention to an environmental volunteering event organised by the Snowdonia Society, spanning Friday 13-Sunday 15 September 2019.

Venue: Beddgelert

The Society is a member-based conservation charity that works with local communities, organisations, businesses and individuals to help look after Snowdonia.

As an outdoor club, our activities have an impact the natural environment. This and other events are an opportunity to put something back, whilst spending more time in the places we love.

Over the three days, or however many days you can make it, members will take part in conservation activities with a wide array of other volunteers, including members of the Rockhopper MC - who have taken part for the last two years. Free camping is available on site and the Society organise a BBQ and entertainment on Saturday night.

Interested members are asked to sign up directly with the Society (places are limited) but also get in touch with This email address is being protected from spambots.
