The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Detail:
This is a Camping Meet, staying at Acton Field, Langton Matravers. Another chance to hopefully enjoy the fine summer Dorset weather.

The meet will be held jointly with the Eagle Ski Club.

This campsite is only open to the general public at certain times of year, otherwise only to clubs. .  It is located within easy walking distance of coastal climbing and walking.  There is also good biking and walking inland, and beach access a couple of miles away.  Food is available in local pubs in Langton Matravers.  Campsite website: http://www.actonfieldcampsite.co.uk/  It is situated to the south of the B3069, just beyond the west (top) end of the village.

The meet is open to families of members, but parents or legal guardians must be responsible for their children at all times.  Guests of members are also very welcome.

Please ensure that you contact me before the meet, so I can confirm numbers with the campsite.  I intent to bring a large tent, to allow for some socialising.  Members are responsible for bringing any food or drink they wish to consume during the meet.  A BBQ will be arranged for one evening, depending on the weather.

If anybody wants to stay longer, it should be possible to arrive earlier and depart later.  Due to the opening arrangements early arrivals should confirm with the site before arrival.

The nearest railway station is Wareham, and buses are available from Wareham and Poole to Langton Matravers.

Contact John Kentish if you are looking for climbing partners.

Cost: TBC
