The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

AC Scottish Winter Meet
From Friday 23 February 2018
To Sunday 25 February 2018
Contact Roger Everett
Friday 23 February 2018

Detail:

This popular winter climbing weekend will again be based at the excellent Corran bunkhouse, which is within easy reach of the major climbing centres in Glen Coe, Ben Nevis, Aonach Mor and Creag Meagaidh. Excellent ski mountaineering options are also available in the area. There are 19 places available on the nights of Friday 23rd/Saturday 24th February 2018. If there is sufficient interest, it should be possible to extend the meet and/or to book places for nights preceding the Friday, to offer extra value for those travelling long distances. Please contact the organiser for further details and a summary of the aims of and requirements for the meet.

Location:

Corran Bunkhouse, a few miles south of Fort William (http://www.corranbunkhouse.co.uk/). A comfortable upmarket bunkhouse with many twin bedded rooms, plus a larger room. Linen provided, good self-catering facilities, free WiFi, pub within walking distance that does good food.

Getting there and away:

The bunkhouse is situated just off the A82, close to the Corran Ferry slipway. Plentiful parking. It may be possible to arrange shared transport amongst the attendees. Alternatively, buses from Glasgow (both city and airport) stop on the main road nearby, and it would also be possible to get a train to Fort William and then a bus south.

Cost:

The bunkhouse costs £20 per person per night. Places must be reserved before 26th January 2018 by sending a cheque payable to ‘Corran Accommodation Ltd’ for £40 to Roger Everett, 93 Norse Road, Scotstoun, Glasgow G14 9EF. Late booking may be possible. Cancellations before 26th January will be refunded in full, afterwards it depends of whether the space can be re-allocated.
