John will talk about his expedition to the Pamir Alai in summer 2016.  With Robert Taylor, he attempted the 900m high unclimbed north face of Muz-Tok; only to be defeated 100m from the summit on this, his second expedition to attempt this ascent.  The popularity of the Pamir Alai and Karavshin has been hit since the collapse of the Soviet Union by various security and political problems but events in the past year have dramatically improved the access situation - all will be explained in this lecture...
