The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Colin Beechey: More Alpine Classics

More Alpine Classics: This is the 4th talk by Colin on Alpine Classic routes. Colin completed his guideless round of the Alpine 4000ers in 2000 (Collomb list), only realising there was such a list after climbing at least half of them. He was more interested in climbing classic historical routes irrespective of height and only slowly worked his way through the 4000ers, determined to avoid list ticking. He has continued to seek out classic Alpine routes in many areas, despite rapidly approaching old age. This talk will describe another selection of climbs mainly in the AD to D grades, some familiar and others probably less so.
