This year's annual get-together is definitely taking place!
It will be on Saturday 27 November 2021 at the Castle Green Hotel, Cumbria LA9 6RG (a new venue for us, which has come highly recommended by the Fell and Rock CC). The hotel is 2.75 miles from Oxenholme station, which is 2 hours 47 minutes by the fastest train from London Euston.
The order of events is:
15:00 AGM in the Oak Room.
16:30 - 17:30 Discussion, led by the AC Green Group, on environmental issues and commercialisation.
18:30 Cash bar open in the Function Suite (where the dinner is taking place). Cumbria's finest real ales will be available.
19:30 for 20:00 Dinner.
We are hoping that, alternatively, it will be possible for members to join the AGM by Zoom.
Tickets for the three course dinner are the same price as 2018 and 2019, namely £35.00 per person, reduced to £24.00 for those under the age of 38 on the date of the dinner.
I have been able to negotiate favourable B&B room rates as follows: £129 for a double/twin room for 1 night and £218 for two nights. There is a £20 reduction for single occupancy. In addition, for those under the age of 38, the rate is further reduced by £29 per room by special arrangement with the Club.
These room rates will be held until 30 days before the event, so you are encouraged to book soon. Call 01539 734000 and quote Alpine Club.
To avail yourself of the younger members’ rate, please book your room with the hotel in the usual way and separately let the Club office know that you seek the £29 discount. We will then tell the hotel who, when you come to check out on Sunday morning, will deduct £29 from your bill. Please note that the reduced room rate is just for the Saturday night (27 November 2021) and one reduction per room.
Members can now buy dinner tickets for yourself and your guests, paying in either of the following ways:
By cheque, made payable to Alpine Club, and sent in the post to the Honorary Secretary at 55 Charlotte Road, London EC2A 3QF
Or online (you will first need to login to the website, return to the "Events" tab and select the AGM & Dinner Booking option.
When applying for tickets, please specify any dietary requirements.
In view of the continuing pandemic, members and guests attending the event should be either double vaccinated or have had a recent negative lateral flow test and carry evidence of the same.
Tickets will be posted to members in the two weeks before the event.
