Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
The Alpine Club Library is seeking to appoint a Librarian from mid-January 2021, or as soon afterwards as possible. This post is central to the life of the Alpine Club, with the Librarian working closely with Club members, staff and visiting researchers interested in mountaineering, mountain culture and the mountain environment.
We wish to appoint a qualified, experienced, and welcoming librarian who is committed to reader services, as well as to curating the Club’s outstanding collection of antiquarian and modern books. The main purpose of the Librarian role is to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Library, but also for its security and further development; working with the Honorary Librarian and the Council of Trustees.
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, who combines experience of traditional library services (running a reading room, reader services, overseeing the collections and making them accessible) with digital experience and competence (including knowledge of electronic resources and current library technology).
