Meets

Here is a list of Alpine Club meets. Select additional pages using the numbers at the bottom. A list of past meets is can be seen by clicking here.

The Meets programme provides great opportunities for fellow members to get to know each other in the climbing areas of the UK and the mountains of the world.  UK meets in particular offer the chance for members to drop in, even if it's just for an evening drink.

New members have often attended meets as guests of members before they joined and their presence on meets is particularly welcome both to widen their circle of acquaintance and to assist with maintaining that tradition of openness to prospective members. Non-members may attend meets as guests of members at the discretion of the meet coordinator.

Before attending please read the Meet Guidelines.

Alpine Club New members' meet at the George Starkey Hut, Patterdale.

The AC New members' meet offers the chance to join members new and old at the Alpine Club’s George Starkey Hut in Patterdale.  We will be joined by Ron Kenyon for a weekend of winter climbing / walking / running on his home turf.

Ron is a recipient of the BMC's prestigious 2020 George Band Award in recognition of the lengthy and wide-ranging voluntary work he has carried out over his lifetime.  AC, CC and SMC member, Ron is past president of the Fell & Rock Climbing Club of the English Lake District, as well as being the clubs’s Guidebook Secretary. This provides an excellent opportunity to tap into his knowledge and enthusiasm.
There’s always a good chance that it might coincide with decent winter conditions on Helvellyn’s Red Tarn Face too!

In the event of poor weather or conditions, there will be a run around Ullswater along the Ullswater Way.

30 beds available.

There is the option of shared travel on the 21st/23rd.
Lift shares may be available from London or Penrith (or elsewhere), for those who may wish to book cheap advance train travel.
