The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

Alpine Club Lakeland Winter meet at the George Starkey Hut, Patterdale.

This, the last of the three organised meets of the 2018-2019 AC Lakeland winter climbing and mountaineering season, offers the chance to join  Stephen Goodwin for a weekend of winter climbing / walking on his home turf.  Steve, AC Vice-President (2017 & 2018), is a former Times and Independent journalist, and editor of the prestigious Alpine Journal. As an author of a guidebook to the Lakes on Winter Climbing and Mountaineering, this provides an opportunity to tap into that knowledge.
There’s always a good chance that it might coincide with decent conditions on Helvellyn’s Red Tarn Face too!
10 places available and the option of shared travel on the 22nd/24th.
