After several highly successful AC expeditions to South America (Chile, Peru, Bolivia) we are again thinking of returning to the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca in 2016.
As before, this will be an Open AC Expedition lasting for a month between 4th June and 3rd July 2016 with the option for those with limited holiday to return one week early.
We plan to fly to Lima from where a private bus would take us to our base in Huaraz, the Peruvian Chamonix.
The programme will be fairly flexible, but the primary plan is to attempt classic peaks in the difficulty range AD to D+, although most venues will offer options for easier ascents.
We would first acclimatise on an easy peak such as Marapaju (5,326m, F), with its tremendous views, before attempting harder peaks such as San Juan (5,843m, AD+), Cinchey (6,222m, PD+/AD-), Ranrapalca (6,162m, D), Tocllaraju (6,032m, D) and Shaqsha (5,703m, AD) for example.
This programme would take us into several scenic valleys with some easier climbing options.
The expedition will be limited to around 8 people and is estimated to cost in the region of £1,700-1,800, inclusive of flights.
