The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857.  For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.

With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

John Temple, Ian Howell, Peter Payne: Many Picnics on Mount Kenya
Tuesday 10 May 2016, 07:30pm
Tuesday 10 May 2016

No Picnic on Mount Kenya, but a Feast for the Alpine Club: John, Ian and Peter spent several years in Kenya during which a number of classic first ascents on the various summits of Mount Kenya and other African mountains were achieved. This presentation will be an overview of the routes on Mount Kenya and the contribution of AC members to their exploration to mark the re-publication of Felice Benuzzi's classic book 'No Picnic on Mount Kenya', which we hope will be available for purchase on the night.
